Last weekend of summer 2016 i took a bike ride outside Warsaw to visit four SPFF places on souther outskirts of the city. All of those places i know from the past – i used to ride a bike here back in 90s when as a teenager i tried my luck in cycling club. This time i came back here with radio to call a CQ from a couple of reserves located near to each other.
Short but nice visit into Wisla river estuary near Gdansk. I know this place for a long time – i visited it back in late 90’s for birdwatching. This time we’ve spotted a lot of rare birds as well. You can find out more about this superb reserve here. You can reach this place easily from Gdansk in less thank 30 minutes.
Thanks to outstanding weather conditions – over 10°C and sunny day – i’ve decided to take a chance and go with my K1 once again this year. It was Las Kabacki park this time. Once again small sanctuary in Warsaw area. There was quite a crowd because of warm weather and sunshine so i went to the fields to stay away a bit.
Last weekend i returned to SPFF 713 to get some more QSO’s. Unfortunately there was poor condx for qrp as it was in the morning and propagation changed slowly to high angles. I got a lot of 559 and 539 reports and also heard some of OM’s were strugglin’ to receive my signal.
Despite poor conditions it was lovely morning with great weather so after i failed with gaining pileup i’ve decided to take a walk for some pictures.
Jeziorko Czerniakowskie reserve is located in southern part of Warsaw. This is the place where i grew up so i like to come back there. After rainy saturday sunday started with sunshine so i’ve decided to take my K1 once again to work a couple of QSO’s protable.
This time it was short one. Having not much time after work i’ve decided to visit Skarpa Ursynowska reserve in Warsaw. It was cloudy afternoon so there’s not much pictures. Especially i was bussy with nice pile up. I’ve logged over 70qso’s within an hour and a half.
We had polish hamvention in Burzenin Last weekend. It is probably largest hams meeting in SP with more than 400 participants. During some spare time I’ve decided to visit floral reserve nearby called Winnica. It is very small and charming place near to Warta river and contains floral posts simmilar to those in polish Jura (check out previous activities). It is because jurassic marl rock apears here on the surface and such flora (warm meadows specimens) likes such undersoil.
It is nice, quiet place lost among fields few hundred meters from Warta river who shaped its mild walley. It is almost 4km from Burzenin and I’ve decided to take a little walk with my backpack. It was pure pleasure with great weather this day.
It is almost 20 years since i visited Polish Jura for the first time. It was my favourite climbing area since my first ascents. Outstanding beauty of this place atracted me all these years. I used another climbng trip as an opportunity to work a couple of qso’s and to show you guys how unique place it is.
After a few weeks of hot summer drought i’ve decided to take a look at Wisla river. Meteo services reported water is low as never before so i choose to visit Wyspy Zawadowskie reserve – nice place with river as wide as 700mtr and a lot of sandy islands into river stream. This place is famous for it’s nesting birds species and even more of them migrating every year.
My first activity from Flora Fauna QTH is history now. Using Elecraft K1 qrp transceiver i managed to log tens of callsigns and had a lot of fun! Take a look at a place i’ve visited and a setup used there.
SPFF-0713 area known as Morysin reserve is placed in southern outskirts of Warsaw. I used to grow in this neighbourhood so i know this place well. It has interesting history. Founded as a park near Wilanow royal residence become abandoned and taken back by the nature shortly after second world war. There are some relics of XIX age buildings nad some old trees planted there as a part of a romantic park.
